Albert Richard O'Neal Jr.

O’NEAL, Albert Richard Jr. – 90, of Scituate, formerly of Marshfield, MA and Camillus, NY passed away on May 3, 2023 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was the beloved husband of Maureen E. (Fitzmaurice) O’Neal, with whom he recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Albert was born in East Orange, New Jersey, the son of the late Albert R. Sr. and Catherine (Mahony) O’Neal. He was a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School and went on to attend Boston College with a focus on Business. He lived many places, but considered Larchmont, NY his home growing up. It was in Larchmont that he developed his passion for sailing on his boat, “Blitzen.” He had a great fondness for Boston College Football.

He worked for many years as a salesperson of heavy machinery, namely as a District Manager for the Harnischfeger Corporation out of Milwaukee.

He was the devoted father of Patricia O’Neal-Parsons and her husband Mark of South Carolina, Albert O’Neal and his wife Debra of Duxbury, Robert O’Neal of Bellingham, WA, Maureen O’Neal of W. Harwich, MA, Mary Bridget Murray and her husband Frank of Reading, MA and Elizabeth Morrow and her husband Patrick of Stuttgart, Germany.

Cherished grandfather of Rhonda, Kathryne (Scott), Michael, Matthew, Isabel, Charlotte, Sarah, Joseph, Daniel, Erin, Andrew and great grandson Oliver. He could often be found cheering on his grandchildren at horseback riding events , sports games and concerts or challenging any one of them to a competitive game of Parcheesi or Risk. The grandchildren will miss his genuine interest in and excitement about their activities and future endeavors.

He was the loving brother of Mary Ellen Heinze and her late husband George of Charlotte Hall, MD; Patrick O’Neal and his wife Judith of Tampa, FL and his late wife Sally O’Neal; and Kate Glennon and her husband Charles of Harrison, NY. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 4-8 PM at Richardson-Gaffey Funeral Home, 382 First Parish Road, Scituate. Funeral Mass Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 10:30 AM at St. Christine’s Church, 1295 Main Street, Marshfield, MA. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
