Known as Bobby, Daddy, Papa and Pop to the ones he loved, Robert was Schaefferstown’s biggest advocate, frequently saying “there’s no place like Schaefferstown.” He served his beloved hometown as the owner, proprietor and butcher at Krall’s Meat Market for the overwhelming majority of his life.
In addition to his work, he had a passion for flowers and birds – passions that were instilled in him by his Grandpa Haldeman. He was in awe of the mountains and the changing color palette in autumn. In the spring, he cheered for the Phillies with his wife, Ruth, from their back porch.
All year long, he loved to escape to his “cabin in the mountains” and enjoyed splitting wood and keeping the fire at his A-frame burning. He was a sharp dresser, and was frequently seen wearing his favorite Woolrich attire and what his family will forever call a “Papa Hat” (bucket hat).
Robert was born on Nov. 6, 1933. He attended Heidelberg Township High School where he graduated in 1952.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth O. (Clauser) Krall; sister, Annabelle Seiverling (Lowell); daughters, Anne R. Rhoads (Gary) and Elizabeth J. Knight (William); grandson, Matthew Krall; grandson, Nathanial Krall; granddaughter, Elizabeth Greenaway (Bradley); grandson, Andrew Rhoads; granddaughter, Juliana Knight; great granddaughters Emma and Stella Krall.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor G. Krall; his mother, Miriam Haldeman; his brother, Luke E. Krall; and his son, David Krall.
There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown. Main Ave., Myerstown, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 a.m. Friends are invited to join the family for his burial at Albright Cemetery, Kleinfeltersville, followed by a luncheon at Schaefferstown Fire Hall.
Flowers can be sent to Clauser Funeral Home, N. Carpenter St., Schaefferstown, Pa., 17088. If you’d prefer, in lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to your favorite charity in Robert’s name.
