Beloved wife of the late Alvin Burmaster. Much loved mother to Suzanne Bittner (Steve). Molly was born in Bathurst, New Brunswick the middle child of 10, 7 girls then 3 boys, to the late William Smith and Greta Smith (nee Hodnett). Molly is survived by her sister Hazel Harvey (late Al) and her brother Roy Smith (Donna). She is predeceased by her sisters Ella Knowles (late Lyman), Edith Jagoe (late Rev Eldon), Ruth Scott (late Rupert), Marguerite Morrison (late Weldon), Ruby Lewis (late Rev Stewart), and brothers Aubrey Smith (Wilma), and Walter Smith (late Opal and Joyce). Molly will be missed and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Molly worked in food service at Upper Canada College, and spent her summers at the Anchorage, now a provincial park on Grand Manan Island, New Brunswick. She also worked many years at Hart House (University of Toronto). Molly moved on to work several years at the Clark Institute as a supervisor in the dietary department. Those years are filled with many fond memories from family members who shared accommodations in Toronto until she moved to her own condominium in Thornhill, closer to her loving brother Roy and sister-in-law Donna. In 1978 Florence Burmaster (Alvin's mom) along with a mutual friend played matchmaker when my mom met my dad, they married on September 8, 1979. After a honeymoon on the Gaspe Peninsula and a short detour to her home in Paradise, New Bandon, Molly moved north to Sault Ste Marie to be a loving wife and mother. Molly had many wonderful family and friends in her new home, she enjoyed living in the Soo. My mom showed us her love of the Bay Chaleur or "downshore" known by the locals. In 1991 they built and spent many wonderful summers on the ponds in New Bandon. Many fresh lobster feeds were enjoyed around the dining table laughing and story telling overlooking the beautiful natural scenery. Family and friends will remember Molly fondly for her bright smile, her shining light for Jesus, her sharp wit and her many delicious home cooked meals.
