PROULX, Doreen (nee Primeau) - Her strength and love of laughter, left an imprint on all those who crossed her path. Doreen Viola Proulx (Primeau), 91 of Sault Ste. Marie, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the Sault Area Hospital with family by her side. Loving mother of Richard (late Colleen), Carol ‘Sparkle’ Anderson (Ron), Patrick (Debbie), Michael, Janet Guerin (Paul), and Joseph (Denise). Doreen was born on July 15, 1928, to Joseph and Kate Primeau. She was the ninth child in their large family of eleven children. She loved life at their family home on Tower Street where company and family was always welcome. Doreen fell in love with the mechanic that worked next door. Her and Douglas Proulx were married on June 24, 1947, together they had six children. Sadly on August 15, 1963 she became a widow. Her life took a new direction in August 1964 when she began her career in Electrical Repair at Algoma Steel. She loved her job and co-workers. Doreen retired from the mill in 1992. Doreen loved her family dearly and treasured her sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. She loved to have fun, to sing family favourites, her annual St. Patrick’s Day’s festivities and “Aunty Socials”. She loved a good joke, a clean house and to take care of others. Dear sister of Joanne Daly (late John). Predeceased by her parents and her siblings Isabel Beaudoin (Willard), Gordon Primeau (Joyce), Harold Premo (Evelyn), Ken Primeau (Bea), Doris Moran (Bert and Melve), Vivian O’Donnell (Bill), Marjorie Beaupre (Fred) and Stella White (Mike), Dorothy Mason (Tom). She was the sister in law to the late: Pearl Dewar, Gerry Proulx (Dora), Len Proulx (Betty). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Thankful for their special memories are Doreen’s grandchildren: Doug (Tracy), Aimee (Jeff), Sarah (Dwayne), Selena (Carmen), Jordan (Tabitha), Samantha (Michael), Bobbi, Zachary (Amanda), Katie and Dillon (Jenna). She was a special grandma to Jeff, Ryan and Kyle Leonard. Doreen was also a proud great grandmother to: Larissa, Jayden, Sawyer, Brooklyn, Joseph, Nicholas, Andy, Trent, Ava, Patrick, Grace, Lyric and her newest great grandson Benson. Special thank you to the staff at Sault Area Hospital for the kind care she received. A private graveside service was held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery on Thursday April 16, 2020. Family and friends are invited to a come and go at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. - 705-759-2522) on Saturday, September 26, 2020 from 1 pm to 3 pm (Maximum capacity 40 people at a time, masks are required).
