LEPAGE, Diane Marie (Belsito) - ended her four year fight with cancer at Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH), while her family and friend Sister Mary prayed together at her bedside on Sunday, September 4th 2016; she was 74. A resident of Sault Ste. Marie for all of her life, Diane is predeceased by her husband Art, her parents Anna (Gervasi) and Carmen and her sister Patricia Gilmour, (survived by Gerry). As a loving and dedicated mother to Larissa Nogalo (Steve) and Jeffrey (Stephanie), Diane could never do enough to ensure their happiness and wellbeing. Luke (19), Alex (18), Sophia (14), Olivia (10), Samuel (7) and William (7) will miss their Nonna who did her best to always be in town for their birthdays and made sure she was a significant part of their lives. Diane is survived by her brother Richard (Barbara) her sister Barbara Gotuaco (Barney), sister-in-law Donna LePage and good friend and companion for 13 years, Carl Meierhoff. They’ll miss her newfound wisdom and expertise during hockey season! Aunty Diane will be missed by her niece Tara (Stephen) and nephews, Aaron, Adam, Christopher, Gregory, Michael, Andrew. Diane graduated from Sir James Dunn and went directly to Teacher’s College in North Bay. Later she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Algoma University. She spent most of her career as a teacher with the Huron Superior Catholic School Board teaching in the primary grades where she was influential in shaping many young minds. Diane was the Religious Education Consultant for many years and inspired teachers to share her love of catechism. Diane’s faith journey led her to the Sisters of St. Joseph where she became an active member of the associates. You could often find Diane and her crew singing to the residents in local nursing homes, or volunteering. She had many loving and caring friends who rarely had a birthday without receiving a card in the mail from Diane. But in July and August she could only be found at her Batchawana Paradise, sitting on the deck enjoying morning coffee, a good book, or sharing “happy hour” with her family and the neighbours. Her family would like to thank all of those who gave Diane such loving care for the last four years: SAH Regional Cancer Centre, Bayshore Home Health, especially PSWs Ella and Sarah and RNs Leigh and Cheryl. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5 – 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated from St. Jerome’s Catholic Church on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:30 am. Rev. Pat Woods officiating. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions to ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
