Dennis was my first guitar teacher in the late 60's and exposed me to a world of music that I had no idea existed.I remember coming back on an all night drive from a guitar concert in Toronto ( John Williams? ) and almost freezing in the back seat of the Jimmy. I remember many free cups of coffee on Friday nights with Rose and other students in the apartment above Gartshore's. I remember a toddler Samantha playing on my knee in the kitchen on Wellington street. Dennis was remarkable in how he opened his life to his students. There have to have been thousands of others with their own memories of his generosity and gentle inspiration.

Dennis was a wonderful brother.  I shall always treasure my memories.  I loved him very much.

Dennis was a pretty cool rock-cat back in the Pine hill days(early 60s).He was a huge influence on us neighbourhood guys getting our own band together.His life was lived with true personal and musical class.

Denis taught me mandolin at the age of 8 and later guitar.  I was always amazed at the wealth of knowledge he had, not only on music but life as well.  He was an inspiration to study music.  On tough days I remember our conversation over coffee a few years back telling me to stay in school.  My condolences to the family. He will be greatly missed and always a voice of guidance.

Rose and Family,Denis was a great friend and teacher and truly one of my favourite people in my life. His brutal honesty was seriously refreshing and always made me smile and laugh.He inspired me in my field and I always looked forward to reconnecting in the Sault when I was back in town,it always felt as if no time had ever passed between our visits.I'm going to miss him dearly. I'll raise a glass of single malt to him and Smile.

Dennis was a wise and talented teacher that first taught me how to play a lovely instrument such as the guitar. Throughout the 4 years I've had him for a teacher, Dennis had taught me a lot about guitar and life. My parents express their gratitude for Dennis' work in inspiring me to learn music. He shall forever be remembered in this way and may he rest in peace.

Sam,  Rose, Todd and family, in reading the other condolences it is clear that this is a loss for many in the community.  But most of all to you.  I am thinking of you all and wish you strength during this most difficult time.

Rose and family, I am so sorry for your loss,I am sure he will be greatly missed by all! I know he has touch many lives with his music and I will always remember his gentle smile!!

As a former student of Mr. MacGregor's almost thirty years ago, it has been an honor to teach alongside of him over the past eight. His kind and gentle ways will be missed and remembered by many. Sincerest condolences to Rose and family, and friends. Rest in peace Dennis.

Years ago a great gift was given to me by this quiet, unassuming, patient and very talented man.. the gift of music.  He made sure that the breadth of his teachings stretched my capabilities far beyond what I could have imagined or what I would have asked of him.  I will always be truly grateful.

Mr. MacGregor was my first guitar teacher when I was young. I remember his lessons well. Years later I went on to become a guitar teacher myself, and the value of what Dennis gave to me is quite clear. I am saddened by your loss, and wish your family peace and healing as you move forward. Rest in peace Dennis.

For more than a decade Dennis taught me to play guitar.  It's only in my adulthood that I realize his lessons taught more than guitar.  RIP my friend.

Mr. MacGregor was a customer of mine at Sault This Week. A very gentle, caring man, it was my pleasure to serve him. He will be missed. My deepest condolences to his family on their loss.

I am going to miss my daily banter with Denis.  I cannot tell you how sorry I am that you have lost him.  I hope that you find comfort in the wonderful memories you all share.  He has had an amazing impact on students and musicians everywhere.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dennis was a wonderful friend of mine all through the 60's and 70's as we played in many bands to gether. He taught me how to play chess. A better friend no one could have! Rest in sweet piece my old friend.
