Anneli was the beloved wife of over 61 years to Aimo Holmsten. She was the adored mother to Tiina, Ari and Mummu to her only grandchild Harmonie. She was the cherished sister of Jarmo Hokka and a dear friend to many.
To try and summarize a soul like Anneli in a few short paragraphs feels unjust. She was kind, patient, gentle, empathetic and endlessly nurturing to those around her. She was gifted with children - a selfless and loving teacher. She had a deep and special connection with nature - she lit up at the sight of flowers and sound of birds. She was a lover of books, stillness and reflection. She was intuitive, sensitive and incredibly wise.
To those who were lucky enough to know her - she was their world.
Anneli (or Mummu), leaves behind her family and friends in body, but never in spirit. She will forever be woven into the identity of her loved ones, remembered, loved, and cherished.
The date of her passing is known as Juhannuspäiva (Mid Summer’s Eve) in Finland, a celebratory day where the sun does not set. Mummu rests now in eternal summer, surrounded by tulips, trees and fields of white roses. Anneli passed away happy and at peace.
The family would like to thank Sault Area Hospital and staff, as well as ARCH and their staff for their care and compassion provided to Aila Anneli (Mummu).
Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. -705-759-2522). In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to ARCH would be greatly appreciated. Please visit www.arthurfuneralhome.com to leave a message of condolence as a keepsake for the family.
