Nov 1, 1935 – Jan 19, 2021
Walter Deschuck peacefully passed away on January 19, 2021 at Saskatoon City Hospital with his loving wife, Agnes, by his side. Wally was 85 years old, having been born in 1935 at Drifting River, Manitoba. He was predeceased by his parents Klym and Nellie, his brothers, Matt, Bill, Mike, Peter, Steve and Alex, step-sisters and brothers Ann, Mary, John and Charles, and brother-in-law’s Ivan, Tom and Mike. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Agnes, their children Shelly Amberson and Lori (Mark) Paslawski, and grandchildren Carson, Breanne, Cole and Sam. He is also survived by his three sisters, Helen, Tillie and Nettie, brother Harry, sister in-laws Dianne, and Betty as well as many nieces and nephews.Wally grew up with his siblings on a farm near Venlaw, Manitoba. He left home at the age of 16 to start a journey of his own. He moved to Saskatchewan and worked as a farm hand, then on to CP Rail. Wally also spent many years on the oil rigs which brought him to Allan, Saskatchewan. It was here that he met the love of his life, Agnes, at Cody's Cafe. They married in1965, remaining in Allan and welcoming their first daughter Shelly. The lure of home ownership led them to Saskatoon, where they welcomed their second daughter, Lori. Wally took a job with Patience Lake Potash Company of America, and worked there for 36 years. He was a skilled mechanic, "master of the tool crib", and a dedicated hard-working man. Wally loved to fix things, and being mechanically inclined resulted in him routinely fixing all descriptions of motorized contraptions, from cars to lawn mowers, for friends and relatives. This was just fine by Wally, as he was happiest when he was working on a project in his garage, or being outdoors. Wally took great pride in keeping his home and yard in pristine condition, and during the summer months needed to be dragged inside as his love for outdoor spaces forged in his youth, remained a large part of Wally and Agnes’ family life. Wally put many miles on his blue Ford half-ton truck camper touring the finest lakes Northern Saskatchewan had to offer with family and friends. His love of a good campfire, and willingness to cut the timber to accommodate one, was just one example of the “work hard play hard” mentality that made him such a great husband, father, grandfather and friend. Wally, “The Cat" left a lasting impression on all who met him, and while he will be sorely missed by those who knew him, we all have many great memories of Wally. His grandchildren brought him great joy; they were the spark in his life that filled his heart with love. We would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at St.Paul’s and City Hospital for their kindness and compassion over the past two months. A Funeral Service will be held on January 28, 2021 at 11:00 am, To view via livestream or at a later date please visit: www.faithproductions.ca/livestream .
