Robert Charles Reid

His loving wife Richelle and his adoring children Katie (Blake), Ben (Sydney) and Jesse were all by his side as he went to join his mother. Rob was born in Saskatoon on October 2, 1972, to Chuck and Gloria (decd) Reid. He was one of 5 siblings; Joe (Lyla), Rick (Bea), Tim (Cheryl) and Cathy (Bruce) are all mourning his loss. Also left in mourning are his in-laws Rick and Debbie Brodsky, Brandi and Devon.

The number of nieces, nephews, extended family, and the huge number of close friends who are devastated are too many to note here. Rob's devotion to his family is what defined him. To say he adored Richelle (his Chellie) does not come close to describing his love and commitment to her. She was his everything. His love for his children was the truest, deepest example of 'the best dad anyone could have'. Katie is like him in so many ways, and he 'got' her like no one else does. Ben was his best buddy, and if you ever heard or saw them watching a football game that was apparent. Jesse, his baby and favorite skiing partner, had a special bond with him being the last one to leave home. The hours of card games, silly antics and teaching moments he had with his kids will be with them forever. He was so incredibly proud of each one of them. Their successes will continue to make him smile down on them.

Rob worked in his dad's hardware store (Reid's Hardware - Sutherland) as a youth, and eventually he got a degree in education, which began his career as an elementary school teacher. He enjoyed teaching English (and reading to his kids) and Science (especially experiments) but mostly he loved gym and playing with his kids at recess every single day. The cards, the letters and the tears at the end of every school year were a testament to the love and care he put into developing the lives of his pupils. By the number of Christmas and end of year gifts with New York Giants emblems on them, it's quite apparent he also created a lot of new fans for the Giants. Rob's two favorite pastimes were golf and the New York Giants. He was the most devoted and knowledgeable football fan imaginable. Traveling with Ben to see games in New York was a highlight.

Rob was a scratch golfer, winning many club championships in Saskatoon and Kelowna as well as amateur competitions in Saskatchewan.

He also loved skiing, especially during the years Jesse and he had regular Saturday ski days at Big White. Every summer when he wasn't golfing, he was taking his family boating. The days of water-skiing and tubing are favorite memories for the whole family and for friends who came to visit.

Rob had a special gift as a carpenter, building cabinets and remodeling every house the family lived in. His latest project was to create a beautiful home for Katie, and what a warm memory that will be for her.

Rob and Richelle loved to travel. Scotland, where he could golf and she could explore, was a favorite destination. There were many trips to Scottsdale with the kids when they were young, and the occasional trips to Hawaii were memorable. Rob also spent 6 months in Australia before he and Richelle met.

This final tribute would not be complete if Rob's friendships were not mentioned. There are so many friends shocked and saddened by Rob's passing. The number of people that will miss stopping by for a beer, a golf game, a football game, a visit or just a phone call is enormous.

Rob and Richelle started their married life in Loon Lake SK, then Saskatoon before moving to Kelowna almost 7 years ago. In that time, almost without fail, every day he would FaceTime his parents. After his moms passing, he continued to talk to his dad every day and made numerous trips each year to see them. He was the epitome of a devoted son. We are sure his mom has greeted him after he picked up Eli at the Rainbow Bridge.

Rob's fitness will be rewarded and a blessing to many who will receive life-saving organs as per his wishes to be a transplant donor. Four men close to Rob's age have been given a new life and someone will see again. There is a bit of peace knowing our pain has given them joy.
