Regina Magdalena Coupal (nee: Hoffart) passed away peacefully in Saskatoon on Thursday January 26, 2023. Regina, the daughter of Roy and Marian Hoffart, was born on February 14, 1927 in Milton Saskatchewan and grew up in the Neudorf area. She was the seventh of eight children including Eva, Pete, Jack, Barbara, Tony, Johnnie and Henry (Hank). Regina was married 24 November 1951 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Regina, to Real Coupal who pre-deceased her 6 January 1997. Three boys were born to Regina named Cyril, Claude and James, followed by eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren so far.
Regina is remembered for her love of fishing, farming, curling, travel, and sewing. Especially sewing. Countless families benefitted from her skilled hand as she sewed wedding dresses, graduation gowns, baptismal gowns, church and clerical robes, and anything else made of cloth.
Yet her favourite pass-time was people. Whether cooking for them, conversing with them, or sharing a drink, it was in being with people that she found her greatest joy.
Regina was the last of her siblings to pass away, but all of her boys, grandchildren, and great grandchildren remain to remember her. It will be difficult to replace the warmth and love that Regina brought to this world. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
Vigil Prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday February 2, 2023. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Friday February 3, 2023. Both services will be at Holy Spirit Parish (114 Kingsmere Place Saskatoon). Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Saskatoon, where Regina will be laid to rest beside her husband.
Arrangements entrusted to David Polzen.
In lieu of flowers, please dedicate some time to prayer for the repose of Regina’s soul.
