The passing of Lucille (Sis) Widdifield (nee) Laderoute of Saskatoon, Sk. and formerly of Creelman, Sk., occurred in Saskatoon on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. She was born the 3rd child to Raphael and Amelie Laderoute on the Jack Allan farm north of Creelman, Sk. She received her education at Hartaven, Sequin, Eldersley and Creelman Schools. In 1937, the family moved to a farm near Crooked River, Sk. Her mom died December 30, 1940 when Lucille was 11 years of age. In the following year, the family moved back to the Creelman area. As a teenager, she was active in CGIT and played ball. She was known for her pitching skills. On December 27, 1947, she married Clare Widdifield. The wedding day was bitterly cold at -40. Lucille and Clare lived on the Widdifield Family Farm where Beverley, Donna, George and Anne Marie were born. In 1961, they moved into the town of Creelman where they owned and operated a successful machinery dealership. Lucille was involved in Cub Scouts, Fillmore Rebekah Lodge and the Agricultural Society. The dealership was sold in 1972. Lucille and Clare moved to Yorkton, Sk. to open a Western Store with their son. After the store was sold in 1979, Lucille continued in retail sales at Hearn’s Pharmacy. In their retirement years, they moved to Creston, BC., Brooks and Medicine Hat, Alta. and Lanigan Sk. where they made many lasting friendships. Lucille was well known for her excellent cooking and baking skills. Many friends enjoyed her buns, cookies and tarts. Throughout their married life, they raised and showed numerous breeds of horses. Lucille was predeceased by her husband, Clare; son-in-law, Don Foss; her parents, her brother Louis and sister Edith; her mother and father-in-law and all of her brothers and sisters-in-law. She is survived by her family Beverley Foss; Donna and Harold Dickie; George and Rita Widdifield; Anne Marie & Jan Edmonds; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and 2 sisters, Yvonne and Bernice. A Graveside Service officiated by her grandson, Randy Foss will be held at Creelman Golden Gate Cemetery on April 7th, 2018 at 1:00 pm followed by a tribute and tea at the Creelman Memorial Hall to celebrate Lucille's life. Donations in memory of Lucille may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan or Creelman Golden Gate Cemetery.
