Graceyn Isabelle Poncelet passed away on April 17, 2024 while on vacation in Bucerias, Mexico with some of her family. She had fought a hard-battle with rhabdomyosarcoma for the past year, but in March, we received great news that all indicators showed she was winning! Graceyn thought a trip to the ocean would be a great way to celebrate and so did we. We enjoyed almost 10 days of golden sunny beach days collecting sea glass and shells. And she and her sister rode horses on the beach. The day we were to come home, Graceyn had a medical emergency and instead of going to the airport, we took our precious child to find urgent medical care. She was placed into a medically induced coma while the team tried to find out what was causing her seizures. To our shock and deep-sorrow, our beautiful girl didn’t make it.
She was born in Saskatoon on November 24, 2013, to Nicole Poncelet and Evan Alexander. She has her little sister Anna reeling with the loss of our gorgeous Grace.
Also left mourning are Graceyn’s grandparents, Bobbe Poncelet (Rob Simpson), Jeff Long (Tammy), Eugene Alexander (Michelle Landry) and Kim Alexander (Barry Wolfe). Her Uncle’s and Aunty’s, Brendan, Ainsley (Mitch), Calla (Sheldon), Grady, Bailey, Steven, Charles and Marissa. Also many cousins and extended family who love her so dearly.
Graceyn was a magical human being. So full of kindness, humor, and a strength that defied her age. She loved playing with her sister Anna, and spending lots of time with her family. She loved dogs and cats and said that her spirit animal was a red fox. In the past year, Graceyn took a lot of interest and comfort from energy healing. She had an extensive crystal collection, she loved blending and diffusing essential oils, and listening to meditations as a way of calming her when times were tough. She was very intuitive and smart and could just as easily sit comfortably and quietly in thought as she could being a goofy and entertaining 10 year old.
