September 4, 1942 – October 23, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of George James Hunter. George was born in Wakaw, SK and grew up 2 miles West of Wakaw that his grandparents and parents farmed. George was a Jack of all trades. He was on demand for everything - chef, driver, messenger, repairman, electrician, painter, cleaner, plumber, car mechanic and engineer.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Irene; his daughters Shawna (Jay) Olyniuk, Kimberly Hunter and Ashley (Travis) Knash; son Ryan Hunter; grandsons Colten and Wyatt Olyniuk and Grayson Watson-Knash; and his special fur buddy, Mitas. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Hunter; and his brothers Bill and Bob Hunter.
A Private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2020 with live-streaming available for those who cannot make it at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQbcTFs7LEvIc-X0lKxJ8NA with Rev. Fr. Mike Dechant, OMI as Celebrant. The Rite of Committal will be held at St. Theresa Roman Catholic Cemetery, Wakaw, SK in Spring of 2021.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital for their care of George over the past few weeks and the wonderful staff of St. Philip Neri Parish and Mourning Glory for their care and compassion they provided George and the family during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honour to Cosmopolitan Industries (1302 Alberta Ave Saskatoon, SK S7K 1R5) or at https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/cosmopolitan-industries-ltd/
