It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Elizabeth Vasko, after a courageous battle with lung disease. Mom was an epitome of strength, facing everyday challenges with resilience driven by her love for family and life itself. Her motto "Never give up" defined her spirit, as she fought bravely until her final moments.
Mom's passions were numerous. She possessed an unparalleled knowledge of gardening and delighted in canning in the fall. Every spring, she eagerly awaited the opening of greenhouses to carefully select flowers for her vibrant pots, creating stunning displays admired by all. Her love for sports was evident throughout her life. In her younger years, mom traveled across Canada playing ball, and she also spent numerous hours at the curling rink where she achieved success in many bonspiels. Even in retirement, mom continued to follow her favorite sports, avidly watching curling and tennis on TV, knowledgeable about players, teams, and ongoing tournaments. Mom was also passionate about her little dog Meesha. Meesha was a wonderful companion for mom. Mom loved to share stories about the crazy things that Meesha did every day.
A social butterfly, mom cherished conversations with friends and family, whether over the phone or during lively bingo or card games. Her culinary skills were unmatched. The aroma of fresh baking would often be the first thing you could smell when you walked through her front door. Mom took great pride in creating holiday meals that brought the family together. Mom loved to hear the sounds of laughter and conversation as we all enjoyed another wonderful meal.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Darryl, Kim (Trevor) and Stacey (Brent), brother Lawrence (Donna), and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was preceded in death by her loving husband Larry, brothers Orest, Johnny, Ron, sisters Elaine and Shirley, as well as her parents Anne and William.
In accordance with mom's wishes, the family will share in a private celebration of her life.
