With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Christopher Sedgewick, age 37, on Friday, August 25, 2023. Chris leaves a legacy of love, commitment to family and profession, and curiosity about life.
Chris is survived by his loving mother, Monika Angele, his treasured sons, Carson and Lincoln, and his step-daughter Rian. Chris will be sadly missed by his brother, Daniel (Melissa), and their children, Weston and Elle, and his dear sister Stephanie (Brayden), with their soon-to-be-born baby girl. Chris had a very special bond with his Omi, Leslie Angele, with whom he discussed, over coffee, all the problems of the world. Chris was cherished by many aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Angele clans: the Seiferling’s, Becker’s, Baribeau’s and Staudinger’s. He will be fondly remembered by his Sedgewick uncles, Tim and Gord, and several Sedgewick cousins. Chris is also survived by the mother of his sons, Kassie Block, and mother-in-law Carol Block.
Chris is predeceased by his father, Bill Sedgewick, his paternal grandparents, Bryar and George Sedgewick, his maternal grandfather Josef Angele, father-in-law Del Block, and his Uncle Neil Sedgewick.
Born on 17 February 1986, Chris attended school in Warman and made mischief as a typical teenager. It was a happy surprise when, as an adult, Chris enrolled at Grant McEwen College in Edmonton to train as a police officer. Chris, his brother and several of his cousins chose to serve community and nation in uniform. He was proud to work with the Saskatoon Police Service and had a unique ability to communicate with people experiencing troubled times. Chris loved playing with his sons, whether on boat, beach, bike or coaching soccer, and he was a master cook specializing in MEAT. With a garage full of tools and a natural talent for wood-working, Chris was skillfully remodeling his house room by room. Chris was deeply passionate about family and friends. In his humble way, he touched the lives of everyone he met.
The family would like to thank the Saskatoon Police Service for their thoughtfulness and care during this unfortunate loss of one of their finest, and the many friends and neighbours for their support and love. While we will miss him every minute of everyday, we know that Chris is now at peace.
A Celebration of Chris’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday September 1, 2023 at Prairieland Park, Hall D (503 Ruth Street West, Saskatoon).
