Mrs. Christina Amy Nelson

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Christina at her home on December 21, 2022 surrounded by her loving family including her dog, Nysha. Christina was a shining light for all who were blessed to know her. Despite multiple health issues over the years she did not let these issues define her rather she embraced the life she was given. Her natural positive attitude was infectious, she had a great sense of humour and was always a joy to be around. She had an extra early entrance to the world and when she was 5 years old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She accepted this disease and all the required treatment with her feisty attitude. During her teenage years she often spoke at fundraisers for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. In 1999 while working in Banff for the summer Christina met the love of her life, Bill Nelson, and when she moved back home in Oct of the same year Bill came with her. He became her #1 supporter in everything she did and with his encouragement she achieved her goals and dreams. In 2002 she was blessed and honoured to receive the “gift of life” with a double lung transplant, this past March she celebrated 20 years post transplant. The years following her transplant were a busy and happy time she and Bill were married just months later. She received her agriculture degree at the University of Saskatchewan, and went on to make many friends in the industry she was so passionate about. She and Bill built a Hereford based cow herd which were her pride and joy. After her father passed away they continued to work along side her Uncle Byron and Auntie Verna as they diversified into grain farming while continuing to grow their cattle herd. She enjoyed many years of volunteering with the Saskatoon 4H beef club. She loved teaching both the young and old about the importance of the agriculture business. She became the loving aunt to her sisters children and left each of them with happy memories and the knowledge that she loved them deeply which was equally reciprocated. In early 2022 she battled COVID and in May was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer. As was her usual demeanour she tackled both of these head on with everything she had without complaining. When the time came she had the dignity and grace to accept her fate and peacefully passed away leaving a legacy to be very proud of. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband Bill Nelson, mother Dorothy (Dorrie) Forreiter, sister Angela (Garth) Rancier, Kade and Abby; sister Gillian (Joel) Pochipinski, Carsyn and Easton; brothers-in-law David (Sandy) Nelson, Kevin (Bonny), sister-in-law Carol and maternal grandparents Gordon and Mary-Jane Johnson, multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her identical twin sister Laura in infancy, her father Garnet Forreiter, her paternal grandparents Joan and Herb Forreiter, lifelong friend Heidi Clay. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Organ Donor Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society. Celebration of Christina’s Life will be at 1:30 p.m. at Acadia Funeral Chapel (915 Acadia Drive Saskatoon).on Thursday December 29, 2022. Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
