It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Alex Resch. Alex passed away on June 20, 2022, at the age of 79. Alex was born near Vibank, SK, on August 29, 1942, to Jacob and Katherine (Selinger) Resch. Alex attended elementary school and high schools in Regina and graduated with an engineering degree in 1969. Alex worked with Sasktel for 29 years, starting in Regina and transferring to Saskatoon in 1975. After taking early retirement from Sasktel in 1993, Alex drove the school bus for a year, worked in a woodworking shop for 4 years, as well as Westwood and Saskatoon Funeral Homes for 10 years.
Alex married his high school sweetheart, Marion Resch, in 1964, and together had 2 children, Michael and Karen. Alex was an active member of The Knights of Columbus for many years until his retirement from the funeral home in 2007, when he and Marion started spending their winters in Arizona. They loved being together, whether it was traveling south, spending time at the lake, or being at the farm. They also spent many summers together looking after the baseball diamonds in Saskatoon.
Alex will be lovingly remembered by his son Michael (Tamara) Resch, grandsons Brayden and Brett Resch, and his daughter Karen (Guy) Thevenot, grandchildren Ashley, Michael, and Tyler Thevenot; sister Carol Schiissler, sister-in-laws Lillian Resch (John), and Rosanna Resch (Phil).
He was predeceased by this parents Jacob and Katherine (Selinger) Resch, brothers Jerry, Johny, John, and Phil Resch; sister Doreen Fraser; brother-in-law Adam Schiissler, and sister-in-law Judy Resch (Jerry). Alex was also predeceased by his best friend and loving wife, Marion Resch, 1 year ago.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan, or a charity of your choice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church (1902 Munroe Avenue South Saskatoon) on Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Celebrant Fr. Mike Dechant. Rite of Committal to follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
