Steven Guy Ingram

Steven Guy Ingram was born in Oak Ridge, TN. His parents were Jarl and Colleen Ingram. He is survived by his wife Teri, son Chad, daughter-in-law Kelly, grandchildren Trinity and Derek Mootz, Collin, Abby & Sean Ingram (they reside in Shawnee, KS,). He is also survived by his sister Virginia “Ginger” Wingert, brother-in-law Steve Wingert (they reside in Lecompton, KS), and nephews Dennis and Kent Wingert.

Steve graduated from Lawrence High School in 1962, Missouri State University, and received a Masters in counseling from Emporia State University. Steve was a teacher in Berkeley, MO and a counselor and teacher at Topeka High School. He sold real estate for Stephens Real Estate in Lawrence, KS. Steve was a Journeyman Pipefitter for Local Union # 165, Topeka, KS. He was an Organizer & Lobbyist for the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters and Building and Construction Trades. He worked with General Motors in developing their dislocated workers program. He was a member of a labor/management/government team visiting officials in mainland China and USSR. Steve served as a National and Regional Coordinator for the Human Resources Development Institute of the National AFL/CIO in Washington DC. He was a consultant In Hungary & Eastern Europe concerning the downsizing and dislocated workers serving their local and state governments. Worked as Program Director for the Institute for Career Development, a joint Labor/Management Education Program serving approximately 76,000 United Steel workers and 14 major Steel companies at 55 local sites. He ended his career as the director of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Apprenticeship school in Topeka,KS. Steve loved to travel, photography, gardening and theatre. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
