Scott Gordon

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sandy Gordon, and three children: Chris (wife Mary

Beth), Deanna (partner Wilfrid), and Lee (husband Jack). Scott was also blessed with seven

grandchildren: Amory, Riley, Nicola, Scott, Andrew, Eleanor, and Charlie. He is also survived by

a sister, Karen Gordon of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Scott was born in 1949 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. As a child he was an avid

hockey player and musician, even playing as a member of a band called the Harmonikings. He

attended Aiden Bowman High School, The University of Saskatchewan, and completed his

Ph.D. in Physics at York University in Toronto, Canada. Scott worked as a scientist, executive,

and consultant, and in his heart was always an entrepreneur.

Scott was married to Sandy, his highschool sweetheart. They met in high school while Scott was

a senior and Sandy a junior and fell in love soon after. They were married in Saskatoon in 1971

before departing on a European honeymoon adventure where they used rail passes to explore

the continent; the beginning of a lifelong love of exploration and curiosity about the world that

would eventually take them to Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. Their love would endure a

lifetime. Scott was always a cherished member of Sandy’s family, very much loved by her

parents and seven brothers and sisters and their families. In 2022, delayed one year by the

pandemic, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Greece with family where they

explored the ancient ruins, enjoyed the cuisine, and wondered at the beauty of the

Mediterranean in the company of children and grandchildren.

He will always be remembered for his kindness, his integrity, his generosity, his dedication to his

faith and above all, his love for his family. He and his wife Sandy had three children beginning

with son Chris, born in 1973. Daughter Deanna followed soon after in 1974. Daughter Lee was

born in 1980, soon after the family arrived in the US, making her the only American born

member of the family.

A brilliant and inquisitive mind, Scott excelled in all of his academic endeavors. After obtaining

his Ph.D. he spent several years as a research physicist, including a stint at the famed Xerox

PARC labs in Palo Alto, CA in the mid 1970s, ground zero for the blossoming of what would

become Silicon Valley. He later shifted his skills and focus to the business arena, working as an

Executive at Thomas & Betts in the 1980s which brought the family to New Jersey. He found

his true career calling as an entrepreneur, founding several successful companies over the past

three decades, beginning with Wiring Decisions and culminating with his most recent venture,

Princeton Control.

New Jersey would become the home state for the Gordon family for many years and Scott,

Sandy, Chris, and Deanna all gained permanent residency there and eventually US citizenship,

a long time dream of Scott’s. Despite a busy career that took him all over the world, Scott

always made time for his family. Many boys who grew up in the Hopewell NJ area remember

him fondly as a hockey coach and he was always there to cheer his kids on at sports, theater,

horse shows, or any of the many activities he and Sandy encouraged the children to take part

in.

Scott adored spending time with his many grandchildren, taking on the role of “buppa/bubba”

(kids’ choice) with gusto. His joy in the presence of his grandchildren was visible and the feeling

was mutual. Buppa/Bubba was happiest playing in the pool with the grandkids, attending their

games and meets, and playing games as a family during visits.

An avid thinker about life, its meaning, and what it means to serve God, his Catholic faith was a

central part of his life. He sought to live his life by the teachings of Jesus and it showed through

in his kindness, generosity of spirit, and care for others, including the beloved golden retrievers

the family had during the kids’ childhoods.
