Robin Green

Born on September 11, 1940, in Queens, New York, to Paul and Emma Miller, Robin grew up in

Schenectady, New York, Robin attended Simmons College in Boston graduating with a degree

in Retail Management. She met her husband, Kermit “Kit” Green as a student and they married

the weekend following her graduation in 1962. They relocated to Berkeley Hts NJ, where they

raised their three children, David, Susan, and Josh.

Robin was an active member of her local community and a volunteer and supporter of the

Democratic Party. She was elected President of the PTA at Berkeley School (now Hughes) in

1974. Robin was also dedicated to Temple Sinai in Summit, NJ. Remarkably, Robin became

the first woman to be elected to the position of congregation president 1981-1983.

Robin was a talented athlete who excelled at bowling and especially tennis. She was

extremely competitive and was a valued member of her various tennis teams. Playing tennis

was a very important constant in her life, and she was very fortunate to play well into her 80’s.

In addition to her family responsibilities and sporting activities, she worked alongside her

husband as a manufacturer’s representative for the tabletop and gift industry. One of the

highlights was helping to introduce the E.T. doll in the plush toy business.

Upon retiring, Robin and Kit moved to Point Pleasant, NJ, and later Longboat Key, FL, where

she continued playing tennis, traveling and became an active member of Temple Beth Israel

volunteering for many philanthropic efforts. Last year, she moved to Sarasota with her partner

of 11 years, Jay Greenblatt, also an avid tennis player.

She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, H. Kermit “Kit” Green. She is survived by

her significant other, Jay Greenblatt; her daughter, Susan Green, her son, Josh and Sarah

Green; her grandchildren, Darby and Florence, her son, David Green, her grandsons, Zachary

and Daniel and Linda Green; and her great-grandchildren, Felix and Baxter Green, and the

entire Greenblatt family who welcomed her into their family with open arms. In addition, she

has several cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends that she loved very much.

A service to honor Robin will be held December 27th at Temple Beth Israel on Longboat Key at

10:30 am and will be streamed (link to be provided here at a later date).
