He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Wayne was a member of Bee Ridge Baptist Church and Sand Slinger Motorcycle Club (Haps). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and shooting-the-breeze over a cup of coffee. Wayne also enjoyed barbecuing, cooking, camping in the Smoky Mountains and being in the woods. He was a classic storyteller. Wayne loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his son, Bobby Wayne Boatwright and daughter, Nancy Swallow.
Survivors include his former wife and companion, Suzanne; children, Sherrie Gonzalez, Darvin Boatwright and his wife, Lian, Heather Boatwright and Judson Boatwright; sister, Donna McKinney (Leslie); 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; aunt, Margie Christie; several nieces and nephews, many other family members and circle of good friends.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 30th, at 1 PM with a memorial gathering at 12:15 PM at Bee Ridge Baptist Church, 4210 Proctor Rd, Sarasota.
