Lucille Caroline Willard, "Lu" to her family and friends, slipped peacefully and quietly from this world to the next on Saturday, May 10, 2014. She was 94.
"Lu" was born on November 6, 1919 to George Andrew Sauer and Alese Janet (Powers) Sauer in Dayton, Ohio. She attended public schools and was a graduate of the Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing, all in dayton. She served as an RN in Ohio and Florida.
She married Donald Lee Willard on November 30, 1940. She and Don lived in the Dayton area, and raised their four children there, until they moved to Florida in 1963 where they lived in Sarasota, Anna Maria and Bradenton. For the past 19 years she was a resident of the Pines of Sarasota where she received the most excellent of care.
"Lu" was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Don, and her son Bruce. She is survived by her brother, George Sauer; her sons, Dale Willard (and husband Reid Farrell) and Charles Willard; her daughter, Shayne Lynn Gillam (and husband Jack Gillam); her daughter-in-law, Donetta Multer (and husband Ray Multer); five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Pines of Sarasota, 1501 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236, in thanksgiving for Lucille's life and for the exceptional care she was given there.
