He was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1932.
As a young man he was a goalie for the local futbol team, but soon entered his lifelong study of medicine.
In 1956 he became part of the medical faculty at the University of Javeriana, in Bogota at age 26. From there he moved to Bucaramanga and studied at the Hospital of San Juan De Dios in 1959. It was there he met Graciela Garcia Agudelo, his lifelong partner. His life and medical desire led him to the states after their marriage and their first two children, Claudia & Edgar were born. After more years of study in the states, a third child Fernando was born in New York, then they settled in Altoona, PA, where he started his medical practice. In 1980, along with his practice, he was also part of the Altoona Hospital Medical staff and the Mercy Hospital Health System Hospital. Working 24/7 his family and his career grew.
With his retirement in 1992 Mercy Hospital & Mercy Family Honors awarded him with lifetime achievements. By this time he had two grandchildren, one of which was born in Florida. He and Graciela finally decided to leave the cold and head for the sunbelt. Soon he had 3, then 4 then 5 grandchildren, then later 3 great grandchildren.
In 2008 The Pennsylvania Medical Society awarded him with Fifty Years of Medical Service.
