February 4, 1960 - February 3,2023
Jim died peacefully surrounded by family in Sarasota FL, the day before his 63 birthday. Jim
was living the dream, when working from home became the norm, he moved to Sarasota to ride
out his career, to enjoy his favorite hobbies. Golfing, fishing, biking and magnificent Florida
sunsets became the fruits of his labor.
Born and raised in Wynnewood, PA, Jim bled blue and white his whole life. He went to St.
Margaret’s in Narberth, Episcopal Academy and Penn State. He loved being a ‘Narb’ almost as
much as he loved being a Penn State fanatic! But his greatest love was being Uncle Jim. When
the kids were little he was well known for arriving with his pillow in hand ready for battle! His
infamous extension fork appeared for every celebration. He called after every Halloween and
threatened to eat their candy while they were at school.… Even when he lived in Arizona!! He
always had a pocket full of twenties for Christmas and played master of ceremonies for the
talent shows and pollyannas. Jim was a good listener and adviser. He made every one of his
nieces and nephews feel like his favorite. He followed them in their schools and sports and was
genuinely interested in them. Through all the ups and downs in life, if you called Uncle Jim, he
had a way of making you feel like everything would be okay. He cared very much and loved all
in a special way.
Jim had a lifelong career as a bond trader that started in New York City. Jim moved back to
Philadelphia, lived in Scottsdale, AZ for a few years, and spent the last 15 years with LPL
Financial in Charlotte, NC.
He is predeceased by his father Charles Conwell, who passed just two days before him, and
his mother Diane Conwell (deLuca). Jim is survived by his brother Charles Jr (Deirdre McGreal),
sister Cathleen McErlean (Joseph) and sister Amy. Jim is also survived by his 12 favorite nieces
and nephews, 11 great nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to join us in an extra special double celebration for Jim and his
father Charlie to be held on April 1, 2023 at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 31
Pennswood Rd Bryn Mawr , Pa 19010. Visitation 10:15-11:00 AM (in church) and
