James D. Captain 84, of Sarasota, FL. passed away, February 28, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1934, his family moved to south Florida when he was an infant. James graduated from the University of Miami with a degree in Speech Correction and went on to complete a master’s degree in communication disorders and audiology. He was a Florida licensed speech language pathologist until retirement in 2000. He lived the majority of his life in the Miami area moving to Sarasota in 2015. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church in Miami (St. Sophia) and North Miami (Annunciation). His love for the Miami Dolphins was only surpassed by his love for the Marlins.
James is survived by wife, Elizabeth Captain and daughters Dr. Christina Captain, Catherine Sullivan (husband, Dan) and brother, Timolean G. Anagnost of Coral Gables.
A Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Sat. Mar. 3, 2018 until the time of Service at 11 AM at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 7671 Lockwood Ridge Rd., Sarasota, FL 34243. Burial will immediately follow at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota, FL.
