Hugh A. Brooks of Sarasota, FL, 91 died peacefully with his family around him on Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Sarasota, Fl. Hugh was born on December 17, 1932, in Monroe, MI. to Archie and Mima (Bailey) Brooks, and attended Jefferson Schools. Hugh was a beacon of kindness and humility. His gentle spirit and modest nature touched the lives of all who knew him. His unwavering patience and selfless love for his family were the cornerstones of his life. Hugh’s smile was a source of comfort and joy; it could light up any room and lift the spirits of anyone around him. His empathetic heart knew no bounds, and he was a friend to all, free of judgment and full of understanding. In every aspect of his life, Hugh was the epitome of love and upliftment. His legacy will live on in the countless lives he enriched with his compassion and generosity. We bid farewell to a truly remarkable soul who will be dearly missed but never forgotten. As we mourn the loss of Hugh, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. May his memory continue to inspire us to live with the same grace and benevolence he embodied every day. Hugh had a love of cars and worked as an Auto Mechanic almost all his life, finally stopped working at the age of 77 years old. He loved NASCAR and attended the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2008. After retiring he enjoyed gardening and being outdoors, also spending time attending his Grandchildren’s sporting events along with their school functions. He is survived by the “Love of his Life”, his wife of 69 years, Dora Louise (Yeary) Brooks; his loving daughters, Deborah (Mark) Pratt, Janet (Anthony) Augello, Donna Everett, Mary Ann (Dan) Brooks. His grandchildren “his pot of Gold”, Victor (Courtney) Pratt, Tiffany Augello (Grant Dennis), Lauren (Aaron) Hoort, Anthony Augello, Jr., Samantha (Blaine) Bott, J. Michael Everett, Ciera (Adam) Brant, Tyler Gosla, James (Mahalia) Gosla, eight (8) beautiful Great Grandchildren; Wyatt, Mila, Luca, Brylee, Kamren, Harper, Roman and Malaki along with 3 extended grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, two brother’s Kenneth Brooks and Robert Brooks of Monroe, MI. Sister- in- law Beverly Brooks of Owosso, MI and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Hugh is also preceded in death by his brother’s Jay, Benton and Ronald; sister’s Rosemary and Anne Hayes; brother-in-law Leo Hayes; sister-in laws Betty, Margaret and Helen Brooks. The family would like to send their appreciation to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Tidewell Hospice for all the care, love and support they provided. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association Florida Gulf Coast Chapter. A private service is being held and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
