David was born to Lonnie and Geneva Dickerson in Middletown.
He was an avid boy scout having attained Eagle Scout.
He graduated from Middletown High School in 1947 and worked for Albers supermarket for 20 years. He started bagging groceries, moved to the produce department, became a butcher, and eventually a store manager.
David was a Sargeant in the US Marine Corp 2nd Battalion 8th Regime, Korean War Veteran.
He was an Allstate Insurance agent for 20 years, and was Chairman of Boys State in Ohio 1988-1992
A member of the American Legion, he was 1st Vice Commander of Post 218 (1989-1992), Sargeant at Arms-4th District 1992.
He was a member of Scottish Rite-Valley of Dayton, and he was Commissioned a Kentucky Colonel in 1995.
David was a member of Sahib Temple (Sarasota) and President of the Greeters in 2000.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary and daughter, Marty.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00am to 11:00am at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota, where services will be held at 11:00am. Entombment will follow at Palms-Robarts Memorial Park with military honors.
