Born May 21, 1930 in Hopkinsville, KY, he attended the University of Kentucky and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines with a degree in Engineering. He was a metallurgical, mechanical, welding, and professional engineer. He was Chief Metallurgist for Henry Vogt Machine Company in Louisville, KY for many years. In his late forties, he obtained his Professional Engineering Certificate. He then fulfilled his lifelong dream of starting his own business, Metallurgical Services Company. He retired to University Park, FL where he continued to work as a consultant and expert witness.
David received the honor of being commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel. He belonged to many professional societies including: International Materials Information Society (AMS), American Welding Society (AWS), American Society for Non - Destructive Testing (ASNT), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), and Society to Reduce the Impact of Corrosion (NACE). He sponsored scholarships for students attending The Colorado School of Mines. He was an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating and a good game of bridge. David appreciated life, was generous in every way and is already greatly missed by his family.
David was predeceased by his parents, Oakley Ray Sr. and Sarah Katherine Brown, his brother, Oakley Ray Jr. and son, William (Bill) David Brown and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Yukiko, his brother, Donald Eugene (Janice) Brown of Dallas, TX and two daughters, Laurie Brown of Brecksville, OH and
Jennifer C. Landry (Ken) of Lakewood Ranch, FL; four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.
