Carol Hill Scherer, 66, of Sarasota, FL, passed away on July 27, 2013. She was born in Dayton, OH and moved to Ft. Myers Beach, FL in 1958. She attended Edison Junior College and graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 1969. She married Robert O. Scherer on Nov. 21, 1969, and they moved to Sarasota in 1971. Carol earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education, and taught elementary school from 1970 to 1979. In the early 80’s, Carol was a docent at Spanish Pointe in Osprey, FL, as well as a member of the Junior League of Sarasota. For over 25 years, she was a member of the educator’s sorority Alpha Delta Kappa, and held many officer positions. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and raising her four children. Carol is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Jennifer Bremner, Nicholas Scherer, Melanie Barber and Amanda Mann; grandchild, Téa Bremner; mother, Sylvia Hill; brother, Paul Hill; and sister Margaret Carey. She is preceded in death by her father, Adrian Lowell Hill. Mass will be held on Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at Incarnation Catholic Church, Sarasota, FL, followed by a Celebration of Life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Tidewell Hospice House or Cat Depot, Sarasota, FL.
