Born in Milwaukee, WI Audrey graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison in 1942 with a degree in Speech. She went on to get her master’s degree in speech in 1944 and taught for a short time at the University of Arizona. But the love of her life, Earl, her college sweetheart, could not accept her living so far away. She moved back to Milwaukee and they were married in June 1945.
Formerly from Westport, Connecticut, Macon, Georgia, and Acworth, Georgia, they resided in Nokomis, Florida before moving to The Glendridge in Sarasota, Florida. In Macon, GA, Audrey was president of League of Women Voters and was very instrumental in starting Macon Area Community Theater. An accomplished actress, she was in numerous plays during her lifetime in Westport, Macon and Sarasota and taught English/Speech at the college/high school level in the Westport area and Macon.
Audrey enjoyed her golf, bridge, sailing with Earl, theater, ballet and opera but most of all being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Dean (Julia) of Charlotte, NC, and Jack (Dottie) of St Simons Island, GA; and grandchildren Jonathan (Kathy), Emily (Rob) and Daniel (Liz); and great grandsons Jack and Matt.
