Sergeant Larry Lavender traded his badge for his wings September 19, 2021 at 10:33 AM. He was welcomed to his eternal home by his Mother, Father, Brother-In-Law, Bill Lavender; and holding the hand of his angelic granddaughter, Lily Michelle Lavender.
His memory will carry on in the hearts of his wife of forty-seven years, Marilyn Lavender; two sons: Larry (Kim) Lavender, Jr. and Heath (Missy) Lavender; one daughter, Krystal Lavender; nine grandchildren: Justin (Amy), Zach (Lexi), Braxton, Cami, Olivia, Mileigh, Melissa, Adalyn, and Kason; three great-grandchildren: Lillie, Madison, Kynleigh; and one sister, Jean Lavender.
Sgt. Lavender touched the lives of many through his five years of service with the City of Mobile Police Department and thirty years with the Mobile County Sheriff’s Department. His most known achievement in law enforcement besides being a devoted husband, loving father, and gold star grandfather, was his work with the mounted unit. There are many other awards and achievements Sgt. Lavender accumulated but too many to note. We will miss the special love and happiness that encircled you. The many memories we’ll all endure and will suffice us until we see you again.
A visitation for Larry will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Radney Funeral Home, 1200 Industrial Pkwy, Saraland, AL 36571 with Chaplain Ron Pierce and Pastor Randy Hogan officiating.
Visitation will resume Friday, September 24, 2021 from 9:00 AM until the Celebration of Life service at 10:00 AM at Radney Funeral Home.
