He was born November 16th, 1944, to William Drake and Grace Orso Dolbear. A crane operator most of his life, he was well respected among members of his trade, and had a hand in building and maintaining many well-known structures in the greater Mobile area. In his youth, he was a competitive water skier and bass fisherman. Later in life, he enjoyed fishing at the family camp on Bates Lake, spending time with his family, and caring for his pet cat, “Jax”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, William “Billy” Dolbear, and Linda Dolbear White; and beloved uncle Bennie Leonard Dolbear.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Sarah Terrill Dolbear; children, Jenny Dolbear Powell (Stephen), Amy Melissa Dolbear, and Sarah Sage Dolbear; grandchildren, Griffin Lyons McIntyre, Thomas Cecil McIntyre, and Ellis Leigh McIntyre, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4th, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland, with funeral services in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m.. Graveside service to follow at 2:00pm at the McDonald-Dolbear family cemetery in Jackson.
Pallbearers are Stephen Powell, Joey White, Albert “Cotton” Maher, Jacob Ferguson, Jeff Schmitz and (honorary) Ryan “Killer” Box.
