Danny endured many years of physical suffering, and while we will forever mourn the loss of his presence in our lives, we are happy to know Danny is at peace, free from the pain and suffering of this earthly life.
Danny grew up in and lived most of his life in Santa Paula. He played baseball for Santa Paula Little League for many seasons, and eventually went on to coach and watch his son and daughter play on the same fields he did. As a child, Danny attended St. Sebastian School in Santa Paula until it closed, and then went to Holy Cross in Ventura. Danny graduated from St. Bonaventure High School in Ventura in 1974, and eventually went to work for General Motors in Van Nuys. He ultimately transferred to General Motors in Reno, Nevada, and he remained there until he suffered a devastating stroke in 2004.
Danny is preceded in death by his son, Daniel Solis, and his father, Ralph Solis. Our family finds great comfort at the thought of their joyous reunion.
Danny is survived by his daughter, Dena Solis; and his grandsons, Nathaniel Fry and Daniel Fry, all of Reno, NV; his mother, Elsie Solis; his brothers, Joseph Solis, David Solis (Anne), and sister Diana Solis (Mike), all of Santa Paula, his nieces, Adryanna Torres of Las Vegas, NV, Arlyne Marella of Ventura, Angelyssa Miranda, Christina Greenhill, Melissa Estrella, and Laura Solis, all of Santa Paula; and his brother in spirit, lifelong best friend, Greg Montano.
Danny was an amazing man in every aspect of his life. He was a great son, an amazing brother, a loyal friend, a loving husband, a doting and attentive godfather and uncle, and an exceptional father. His “happy place” was with his family always. He loved barbecuing, cooking, taking us out to new restaurants and old favorites, watching the Raiders, going to Raiders games, shopping, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, or just sitting around and talking for hours, as long as he was with his family. His greatest joy came from his children Daniel and Dena. He loved being their dad more than anything else in this life. We, as a family, were so incredibly blessed to have had this amazing, wonderful, kind, caring, generous, loving man in our lives, and his smile, his love, and his laughter will be missed more than we could ever express with words.
