Richard Joseph Maloney was born in San Francisco and lived the majority of his life in Santa Clara and San Jose. Upon retirement, he then moved to Carmichael, a suburb of Sacramento, and became a lifelong Californian. Survived by brother-in-law Patrick Donahue and sister-in-law Flora Maloney, the apples of Richard’s eye were his five nieces and nephews: Kathy Conrique, Sean Donahue, Christie Underwood, Margaret DeBack and Beth Maloney. Also dwelling in his large heart were seven grandnieces and -nephews -- Taylor Shaw, Elisha Underwood, Erin Donahue, Ethan Donahue, Dylan Conrique, Caden Conrique and Joshua Underwood -- and all of the extended family members.
Richard was enthusiastic about traveling, which included chasing his favorite bands around the country, enjoying the East Coast, and venturing over to Ireland. There his world expanded, as he toured and experienced his family roots. Friends and family will always remember him as an honest, kind-hearted and fun person … one who loved participating in a vast array of interests and traditions: music, Bingo, cards, celebrating holidays, et al. Richard, also known as “Uncle Dick,” cherished his family and the many relationships he formed along the way. And he never missed a birthday, which meant a specially chosen card and thoughtful gift. You are missed by One & All, Uncle Dick!
A memorial service for Richard will be held Friday, January 5, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050.
