Born María Luisa Berber to Felipe Berber and Soledad Gonzalez on August 05, 1934 in Aguililla, Michoacan, Mexico, the 8th of 9 siblings.
She married Rogelio Barreto in 1955. In 1962 the Family moved to the United States, first to Arizona, then to California, finally settling in Santa Clara, CA.
While working at a hotel’s laundry room she attended night school, eventually getting a job in the valley’s emerging & growing electronic / high tech industry where she worked for over 30 years.
After retirement Maria Luisa volunteered, for over 10 years, at Scott Lane Elementary School, becoming “Grandma” to many children from the community.
Talented at needlecraft, especially crochett and cross-stitch, an exceptional cook, loved music and dancing, but her passion was gardening; she could make anything grow.
Maria Luisa passed away from Alzheimer’s at home accompanied by family on September 2nd, she was 86 years old.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rogelio, her brothers Jose Maria, Ignacio & Jose Jesus, her sisters Margarita, Concepcion, Rosaura & Adelina and her granddaughter Amanda.
Our big-hearted, hardworking and fun-loving “Tita” will forever be cherished by her surviving family: Her Sister Amparo, Her children: Sixto & Sandra, Victor, Alex, Miros & Tom, Edith & John and Mary & Fred, her 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nephews and nieces
