Juan Moreno Ortiz was born on May 23, 1916 in San Pedro de las colonias, Coahuila, Mexico to his parents, Ignacio Ortiz and Inez Moreno. He came to the United States as an immigrant on March 21, 1923 and became an American Citizen on July 21, 1999. One out of 14 siblings, he worked in the fields of San Joaquin Valley and Santa Clara County. He married the late, Tranquilina on October 4, 1947. He is survived by his children; John Ortiz Jr, Henry Ortiz, Terry Soria, Mary Ortiz, Alice Ortiz Martinez and John Albert Ortiz. He worked in construction and was a proud member of the local 270 Labor Union. He retired in 1962 and loved to spend time playing cards with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching western movies, boxing, going to the casinos and visiting with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 5-9PM with Rosary at 7PM at Lima Family Santa Clara, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara where the Funeral Service will also be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at 10AM. Interment to follow in Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
