Chester L Simpson Jr.

Chester LeRoy Simpson Jr., 64, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 in Santa Clara, CA. He was born on September 16, 1953 in Cheyenne, WY while his family was on military assignment there and was the youngest of four children. As a military child, he spent his youth moving to many exotic places from the Philippines, to Germany and back and forth across the United States until the family settled in Sacramento and made it their final home. He attended High School there and completed a Bachelors of Electrical Engineering Degree at California State University, Sacramento. In 1978 he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue his engineering career and there he eventually met and married his wife, Ann. He enjoyed a successful career that spanned over 30 years working at numerous Computer Technology companies. His work passion was designing, building and trouble-shooting power supplies and his design work was not only well known, but was also published in multiple industry journals throughout the years. Outside of work he found enjoyment in tinkering with motors, machines and anything with a power source as a means to challenge his mind and skills. He looked forward to the weekends when he could work on and ride his motorcycle.

He enjoyed both playing and watching bowling and golf, and took up the hobby of target shooting with a shooting league in his retirement years. He was an avid animal lover and for 6 years volunteered several hours a week at the local animal shelter socializing dogs for potential adoption. He will be remembered for his dry and wry sense of humor, his incredible recall of facts and data, and for his love and generosity towards his family.

He is preceded in death by his father, Chester LeRoy Simpson and his mother Elizabeth Simpson. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 35 years, Ann LaBorde, and his loving siblings Susan Berbec and Peter Simpson of Sacramento and his brother, Fred Simpson of Miami, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
