Carolyn was born in Birmingham, AL to Sadie Belle Hogan Dillin and Harry Ervin Dillin. Her school years were spent in Birmingham. After high school graduation, during World War II, she moved to Washington, DC, to work at the Library of Congress. She lived in a rooming house where she met and eventually married her sailor boy, Francis Earl Waldron of Spokane, WA, in 1943. Earl left for sea duty in 1944 and Carolyn returned to Birmingham for the birth of their son Robert.
After the war was over, Earl joined Carolyn in Birmingham before moving to San Francisco, CA. They stayed in San Francisco for 16 years where their daughter Carol was born in 1955. In 1962 they moved to Santa Clara, CA, where they resided until their respective deaths. Carolyn was employed by and later retired from Pacific Gas and Electric Co. Carolyn was an avid reader, and enjoyed volunteering at the Santa Clara Public Library.
She is survived by her son Robert and his wife, Ginny, and her daughter Carol and her husband, Walt Carvalho. She had five grandchildren (Victoria Waldron Small, Stephanie Waldron Owen, Michael Carvalho, Matthew Carvalho, and Nicole Carvalho Matzinger) and seven great-grandchildren (Kieran and Daisy Small, Josephine and Finnian Owen, Grayson, Harper, and Bailey Carvalho.) Also mourning her loss are her extended Waldron and Carvalho families.
