Karen Anne Poyer passed away at the age of 49 on Wednesday March 14, 2018 at 3:47 pm, after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Karen spent her final days at UCI Hospital, surrounded by her family and a great team of doctors. Born in New Jersey, Karen made her way to Orange County, California with her mother Teri Gray; where she would spend the remainder of her life and meet her husband at the young age of 16. Karen is survived by her husband of 27 years Geoff, her daughters Kelsey (26), Kassandra (25), and Kylie (19), and her son Tyler (21).
She was a wonderful mother and always put her children first in every instance. Whether it was waking up at 6 am to prepare lunches (kindergarten through college), decorating her home with special homemade items for every holiday, or being the go-to mom that loved hosting friends and family events.
Karen fought until the very end to beat her cancer diagnosis. “I want to fight” became a mantra to her family and team of doctors when she was given options regarding treatment. As a mother, daughter, wife, sister, best friend and undefeated "Mercy" player, Karen will always be remembered for the love she’s given others.
