Glenda Wray (Mungerson) Johnson was born in Anaheim on March 4, 1935. She graduated from Anaheim High School in 1953, as did our mother Lillian, class of 1929. Glenda went on to UCLA for her Bachelor’s degree and teaching credential. At UCLA, she joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority and met her future husband, Ronald R. Johnson. They were married in June 1959, and soon had their children, Julie and Eric. After graduation, Glenda began teaching elementary school, first in Anaheim and then the Orange Unified District, spending 30 years as an elementary school teacher. Third grade was always her favorite.
Glenda had a passion for being creative, whether it was cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, propagating orchids, flower arranging, interior decorating, or playing the piano. She was good at them all and had an eye for style. She loved nothing better than to be in her garden on the weekends and always had a beautiful yard full of flowers. Glenda and Ron shared a love of travel and Glenda spent most of her retirement time traveling with Ron until his passing in 2006. They went all over the world, even living in Saudi Arabia for 6 months. Ron was a professional photographer and videographer and their home was filled with his amazing photos. Glenda is survived by Julie and Eric, daughter-in-law Karen, her granddaughters Amy Wray and Kimarie, along with her sisters Ruth and brother-in-law Carlos, and Mary and brother-in-law Mike, along with their respective children and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
