Phyllis A Montana (84) born May 1937 in upstate NY. Daughter to Wallace and Dorothy Forsyth passed away peacefully on December 1, 2021 surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband Thomas and sons Tommy (Liz) and Max (Christina) as well as her grandchildren (Matthew and Rachel), and great grandchildren (Cort and Hayes). Phyllis also had a daughter Pamela who passed in 2014. She is also survived by her brother Richard and sisters Patricia and Dianne. She grew up in Ithaca NY eventually finding work at Cornell and NY State Electric and Gas.
Her passion for travel led her to the passport office in NY city. This led her to join the foreign service in 1966. Her first assignment there was Manila Philippines. It is there that she met the love of her life Thomas Montana who was also in the Foreign Service. Thomas is from Pennsylvania born to Harry and Julia Montana. Phyllis was married for 54 years. For over 25 of those years, they lived in 12 countries, traveling the world. Returning from the Foreign Service, Thomas and Phyllis retired in Lake Mary Florida.
Phyllis was a beautiful, kind and generous person who loved her many pets over the years. She loved spending time with family and friends. She was often seen baking cookies or holiday treats. Her other passions included country and Irish music, as well as doing word searches.
