Ken was born July 26th ,1934 in Rutland, Vermont To Kenneth L and Flora (Stuart) Smith. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1952 and the University Of Vermont in 1958 and went right into the Army. Ken served his nation for ten years as an Army aviator flying airplanes and helicopters including two tours in Viet Nam, one in Germany, assigned to various units including the 101» Airborne Div and the 1st Infantry Div (the Big Red One) retiring as a Master Army Aviator after he earned the Bronze Star. Subsequently he worked for North American-Rockwell Corporation in their corporate flight department and later for US Airways. His love of flying went as far as learning gliding while in Germany.
Ken was predeceased by his parents and his sister Shirley Wilson of Belmont, VT, and Kennett Square, PA. He is survived by his wife Shirley Lynne (Hohman) Smith and two daughters Catherine (and Mark) Auberzinski, of Jacksonville, FL and Diane (and Preston) Carpenter and two granddaughters Shayne and Elle Cardamone of Lake Mary, FL.
A celebration of life service is currently being planned.
