Catherine Forrester Russell

Catherine Forrester Russell passed away on August 27, 2014. She was born Helen Catherine Forrester on January 19, 1915 in Douglas, Georgia to Charles and Helen Forrester. In 1933 Catherine graduated from Seminole High school and began attending Stetson College in Deland, Florida. Just 4 years later on February 5, 1937, she married John Clayton “Jack” Russell. In 1955 the couple decided to move to Orlando, but returned back to Sanford in 1983. Catherine Russell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sanford, the P.E.O. Chapter Y in Sanford and several garden clubs in Orlando and Sanford. Catherine not only was a part of the garden clubs, she was also a competition flower judge.

Catherine Russell is survived by her son, Dr. Charles Clayton Russell, his wife, Carole Russell of Glencoe, OK, son John Forrester Russell, his wife, Jimye Kaye Russell of Sanford, FL., Grandson, John Charles Russell, and his wife, Shannon Russell, Granddaughter, Cynthia Ann Peaslee, and Great Grandchildren Heather Peaslee and Kasey Russell from Oklahoma.

Services will be Saturday, August 30, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church, 3rd and Oak Street in Sanford. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 pm with the service at 2 pm followed by a reception in Fellowship Hall. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery by Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home.
