Robert L Kushner, III unexpectedly passed away Thursday December 5, 2024. This passing has left his family with a tremendous void in our hearts. Robert was born in Atlanta, GA November 14, 1959 and was the first born son of Brenda Meltz Kushner (of blessed memory) and Dr. Robert L. Kushner, Jr. Robert has two brothers Jeff (wife Tami), and George (wife Marcy), daughter Caroline Kushner Birdwell, husband Matt, grandson Georgie, and son Oliver) Robert was a wonderful brother-in law, and enthusiastic uncle. He was a truly treasured babysitter to his nephews Sugar and Bear, who have been visibly shaken by Uncle Robs passing.
Robert is the very proud father of two children, daughter (Ashley Kushner Becknell, husband John, and their two daughters Ella Joy, and Harper Emily), and son Robert L. Kushner IV, (wife Alissa, and daughter Vivian). Robert was also an adored father-in-law.
Robert’s children and grandchildren were the absolute love of his life.
Robert grew up in Atlanta attending E. Rivers Elementary School, Spalding Drive Elementary School, North Springs High School, Riverwood High School, and West Georgia College.
Robert had a successful industrial real estate brokerage in Douglasville and was on the forefront of the commercial real estate boom in Douglasville. After real estate, Robert was an accomplished Sous Chef in several of Atlanta’s fine dining restaurants.
Robert was also a huge University of Georgia Bulldog fan. His uncanny ability to remember decade old stats was truly remarkable.
Robert never met a stranger and was kind and generous to everyone. In a world that is losing the meaning of kindness, Robert defined the word. Love of family and tradition were instilled in Robert by his parents, and he passed that on to his children. Robert’s tender heart always had him putting others ahead of himself in time of need.
The family is truly devastated at Robert’s passing. The outpouring from his many decades old friends has been overwhelming. Robert was the most caring, loving, son to his parents, who he loved dearly. He was the most loyal and loving brother. He was always there when his brothers needed him, at all costs. He loved his two children more than anything in the world. Watching his grandchildren grow up was his reason for living. He was truly a tender soul that will leave a hole in his family’s heart forever. He had so many more years to be a wonderful son, brother, dad and grandfather. His passing is a senseless tragedy.
Robert’s legacy will live on in his children, in his grandchildren, and generations to come. It will also live on in his brothers who supported him through thick and thin, and his dad, who shared a special bond with Robert. The last several years, Robert has been an invaluable loyal, loving care giver to his dad. Robert always showed his true tender nature the way he took care of the families beloved Pekapoo Teddy.
Robert’s legacy will also live on in the many, many friends who all said the same thing about Robert, once they knew of his passing “we loved Robert”.
Robert is gone, and the emptiness his family feels will never, ever fill.
Graveside services will be at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Sunday December 8, 2024, at 12PM.
