Phyllis was born March 25th, 1933 in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Marcus Lafayette Holt and Eunice Miles Holt. She married John Robert "Bob" Burnette at age 18. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She had a variety of interests and especially enjoyed reading, studying birds, and spending time with her family and friends. Phyllis enjoyed travelling across the world, spending time with her Montana grandchildren, and made the best German chocolate birthday cake you can imagine.
Phyllis was forever a devout Christian. She and her husband Bob were active, founding members of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
Phyllis was preceded in death by Bob, her husband of 53 years, and her son Paul Burnette. Phyllis is survived by her son, Larry Burnette and wife Tanya Burnette; son Jim Burnette; daughter, Debra Burnette Sears and husband James Sears, and their children Robert, Stephen, Kathryn, Leila, Adam, and Ellen; and her great grandchildren Carver, Jacob, James, and Emerson.
The family is grateful for all the love and kindness shown by her friends and extended family at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 5th, 2018, at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, Georgia, 30068. The reception will begin in the Magnolia Room of the Church at 12:00 pm with services to follow at 1:00 pm in the Johnson Ferry Baptist Church Chapel. Burial services will begin at 3:00 pm at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery at 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, Georgia, 30328.
