Beverly and I have been best friends since high school. Even though I live in Houston now and she in Atlanta we have remained best friends and have stayed in touch through the years.  I have a fond memory of Nancy when Bev and I were teenagers.  One Saturday night Nancy had gone out so Bev and I decided to invite 2 boys over to the house.  When it came time for the boys to go home they needed a ride home. So Bev got the keys to Nancy’s car and I drove the car.  We snuck the car out and drove the boys home at the ripe age of 14 not even a permit!!  When we pulled in the drive way after taking them home who was waiting for us in the driveway? But the General!!  She had caught us red handed!!  Nancy was always on top of Bev and me through our mischievous teenage years!

As time went by Nancy was always welcoming to me.  Through sleep overs, taking me with them to St. Simons and to lunch on Saturday’s.  Please forgive two teenage girls. Nancy.  I know we kept you busy!!

Nancy, you will always have a special place in my heart.  You raised Beverly, a wonderful loving daughter and mother, who to this day is my dear best friend.  
Memories will live forever.

Nancy and I were back door neighbors for 49 years.  Because her TV overlooked my patio/parking, Nancy kept a close eye on my home and was able to identify my visitors.by their cars.  She was a dear friend and I will miss her.  My husband loved the way she dressed and implied I should dress more like her.  Nancy was a Talbots fan and was impeccable in her home and dress.  Nancy, Bill and I often sat on my patio and had many interesting discussions on a variety of topics.  We were bridge buddies for 20 years and once I retired, Nancy initiated my return to the game.  Thank you, Nancy!
We took many walks  and many dips in our pool together.
Yes, I will miss her very much, but we will see eacn other again.

Nancy was one of my dad’s two sisters, and they were both strong willed and charming women to have in my life as a kid but Aunt Nancy was the rebel. She was smart, clever, energetic, successful, and fun to be with. Her life story of 97 years is better than most romantic novels! To this day one of my most successful dinners is Aunt Nancy’s Chicken Bake, and the Robertson/Bihr – Guthrie/Woodruff families are all famous for their culinary skills and love of food. The last meal I shared with Aunt Nancy was a Thanksgiving dinner with her family and my daughter in her beautiful dining room. We all enjoyed a lovely meal together. Goodbye Aunt Nancy, safe travels.

I have a lifetime of memories of my sister Nancy and most of them are pleasant and happy. But there was an incident when we were both in our teens when Nancy threw an open bottle of black ink at me. We were both fully dressed and standing in a small hallway. As the bottle flew through the air the ink came out all over both of us, the walls, and the floor. You can imagine what happened after that!

 I loved my sister very much, and yes, afterwards we were both in trouble.


I remember Nancy as a strong, resilient person, a smart woman and a good sister – in – law. I love her family, John, Kathy, Beverly, and Barbie. Whenever Jack and I drove to the south, we always stopped in Atlanta and the whole family was very gracious. And we always looked forward to Nancy’s family visits to the Cape, we knew something exciting would happen!

Nancy and I became quite close as we grew older and were devoted to each other these last years. I loved her very much and I’ll miss her.


I belong to the Camellia Garden Club and have since 1987.  Nancy was one of the first Ladies I met who had already been there I think 20 years before.  She was the treasurer, and stayed treasurer for many years because she was smart and clear.  We could always trust Nancy to keep it straight.  She was playful too and yes, I loved her famous apple cake.  She was always generous sharing her home for meetings.  I live near her and I took her to many field trips and events and we shared a lot of laughs.  How I will miss her.  Janet Wells

I am one of her many bridge friends.  She belonged to the Atlanta Bridge Club (many members started during World War II).  We used to play bridge atleast once each week.  I will miss her.  She was thoughtful, energetic and fun to be with.   Elaine Burnett

We were sad to hear of Nancy’s passing. She was always so kind to us and made us feel at home whenever we visited. I know how much my grandfather loved her and they were so fun to see together. I’ll always remember the incredible meals she prepared and especially the desserts! And I hope she can’t hear me getting into that candy jar on the coffee table when she’s in heaven. But that thing had its own built in alarm system.  

Tina and I regret we can’t be there to celebrate Nancy’s life with all of you. We will leave tomorrow to visit Cliff who moved to New York City this summer. We send our love and deepest sympathy to everyone in the family. And we hope to see all of you again soon when the world gets back to normal. We’ll even settle for close.
