Marilyn was born on March 24, 1928 in Asheville, NC to Minnie (Winn) Dalton and William K. Dalton.
She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Tennessee and went on to teach home economics.
Then her love of flying beckoned and she became a flight attendant with Delta Airlines for over 8 years. Eventually, on one of her flights she met her husband-to-be, Roy Oliver Jones, Jr.
They married Feb. 19, 1961 and raised two children, Julie (Jones) Van Valkenburgh and Steve D. Jones.
Marilyn had a huge love for flying and her days as a flight attendant were some of her happiest memories. She also cherished her time with her only grandchild, Christina Bell, and was such a loving grandmother.
She was known for being a fantastic baker and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her biggest love was serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a mighty prayer warrior for many. She also enjoyed working with Christian ministries and painting landscapes. She loved her home and truly loved her country. She will always be remembered for her compassionate and generous spirit. She will be greatly missed.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her father, William Dalton, her mother Minnie Winn Dalton, her brother Billy Dalton and her husband Roy Jones, Jr. She is survived by her 2 children, Julie (Van) and Steve, her granddaughter, Christina (Michael), her 2 great grandchildren, Jack and Eliza, her brothers Charles and Windal (Wilma), several cousins and a niece.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 17th, 2021 at the Sandy Springs Chapel, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, Georgia at 1:00 PM. Flowers may be sent to the chapel or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
