Linda Davis Evans passed away on December 19, 2023, at the age of 82, after a long battle with progressive dementia. She found peace, loved by family, and taken care of by the kindest of nurses and hospice care at St. George Village in Roswell.
Linda was born in Savannah, Georgia on May 21, 1941. She was the only child of Joseph Carr Davis and Louise Heffernan Davis – later known as Louise Heffernan Engel. Linda’s father died in WWII before ever meeting Linda and she will now be gifted the opportunity to get to know him in peaceful eternity. Linda is a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy in Savannah and Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. Her love for learning and children called her to a life of teaching. The vast majority of her teaching career was spent at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in Atlanta where she fulfilled her passion working with elementary school students.
Linda loved to read and to cook. She was a proud mother and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic and was strong in her faith. She had an unquenchable appetite for learning. She was curious about even the smallest of details and was never too old or too proud to be interested in attaining new knowledge about world history, good novels, politics, and current affairs. Linda was predeceased by her husband Al Evans Jr. who shared her same appetite for knowledge and learning. Christmas was their favorite holiday, so it will be a momentous occasion for them to be together in the loving arms of Christ on Christmas this year.
Linda is survived by her son, Alfred Lewis Evans III; daughter-in-law, Kelly Robinson Evans; granddaughter, Anne Davis Evans; as well as her daughter, Maria-Louise Evans Coil; son-in-law, William Dain Coil; granddaughter Eden Coil; and grandson William Dain Coil Jr.
Final details regarding final arrangements to follow, Linda and Al will be buried together in Savannah in early 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Dementia Society of America.
