Mrs. Jeanne Davis Copeland, age 81, of Atlanta, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday, July 21, 2016. Mrs. Copeland was born in Vidalia, Georgia and was the oldest of three children born to Emmett Monroe Davis and Lois Coleman Davis. She was married to Clifford Eugene Copeland on August 31, 1958. After a brief stay in Alabama, Mrs. Copeland lived most of her adult life in the Atlanta area with her family. Mrs. Copeland attended Stetson University and Valdosta State College, where she was crowned Miss Valdosta in 1956. While primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Copeland helped manage Copeland Drugs, Inc. for several years. In addition, she served as the Secretary/Treasurer of Housewares, Inc. Mrs. Copeland was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta for over 40 years and also a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Mrs. Copeland, fondly called "Jeanne D” by her loved ones, enjoyed gardening, singing, genealogy, cooking, and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and tireless caregiver. Jeanne D loved the Lord and this life He gave her. She will be missed by all that were blessed to know her. 1Thessalonians 4:13-14
Mrs. Copeland is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Clifford Eugene Copeland; son Clifford Eugene “Cal” Copeland, Jr. and daughter-in-law Alexandra (Dallas) Copeland, daughter Cynthia Copeland Hodge and son-in-law Penn Hodge; grandchildren Jordan Hodge, Aubrey Hodge, and Davis Hodge; sister Judy Davis Boyer and brother-in-law Ken Boyer; brother Emmett Monroe “Monty” Davis, Jr. and sister-in-law Becky Moore Davis. The family will hold a private memorial service.
