Father to Janet Wylie Bowers (Gregory), James E. Wylie, Jr. and Samuel G. Wylie (Nicole), Grandfather to Betsy Bowers, Christy Bowers Hunter (Jason), Brett Wylie, Brooke Wylie, Cassie Wylie and Blaise Wylie, Great Grandfather to Riley Kate and Norah Rose Hunter, Brother In Law to Robert and Brenda Hartnett, and friend to care giver, Montel Johnson.
A graduate of Emory University and Emory School of Medicine, Honorably Discharged Captain in the Air Force, accomplished OBGYN and Surgeon, and retired National Director of Physician Review, he was known for exceptional patient care, understanding bedside manner, and outstanding dedication to his career. He maintained his Medical License up to his passing. He was an exceptional provider.
A faithful church member, choir member and contributor to Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, participating in the Easter and Christmas Programs were among his favorite memories.
Prior to complications that limited his mobility, he enjoyed tennis and swimming with family. He watched all sports, especially our Atlanta Falcons. He was a voracious reader and always up to date on current events. Above all of these, he enjoyed sitting with Betty and playing with their dog, Bandit.
All of his family and friends will miss him.
On Thursday, November 8, 2018, the family will be receiving friends beginning at 10:00 AM for visitation and 11:00 AM for service at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. A short graveside service will follow at Arlington Memorial Park.
